A powerful improvement of mutated people who tried to overcome discrimination and prejudice
MCS(Mutant Cancerous Syndrome) means the syndrome that tumors in body are mutated for unknown reasons. The symptoms of this syndrome begins between the age of 5 and 7. The common symptom is that the body is mutated after a seizure. Once you get this syndrome, your body is covered with hairs, gets bigger and even stronger a few more times. Since this syndrome can turn a child into a ‘monster’, people call this as ‘Monster Child Syndrome’.
The main characters, Ha Ni and her brother San Deul, are ‘Monster Child’. These two kids have to take restrainers to prevent seizures, and they have to move their schools and homes whenever they get exposed after seizures. However, on the day when Ha Ni entered the new school for the 7th times in the neighborhood with hidden MCS treatment center, she happened to meet Yeon Yoo, another MCS, even before entering into the classroom. While seeing Yeon Woo who never got intimidated by bullying among other classmates after seizure and mutation, she began to be shocked and confused.
MCS is, for sure, a fake disease in this book, but such a detailed explanation by the writer, as if readers can believe it actually exists, make readers fascinated into this book. However, there is something weird related to the rumor about MCS. It is uncontrollable disease and it makes patients attack innocent people while being mutated and makes patients eat raw meat. The rumor also says that people get infected even with a single touch. Those rumors seem to be far from Ha Ni, San Deul and Yeon Woo. Even further, the head of ‘Independent Training Center for MCS’ told them MCS was not a disease.
When everything looked suspicious, a monster attacked the village farms. Clues on MCS and new mutants, and the hidden secrets provokes thrills in this strong storyline. Readers will expect the next scene until the end, and will feel intrigued and excited when the truths came out revealed one by one.
