During the summer vacation, children go on a journey by bus. They happen to meet friends in different color skins while playing soccer. This round ball accidentally is kicked by children and the soccer game begins. The game never stops until the sunset becomes red. This picture book beautifully describes the heatwaves in the middle of the day, movements of kicking a ball, nervous emotions, and running players with bare feet on a wide sand beach based on dynamic images.

One summer day, a red bus is leaving. The story begins when this red bus stops after finishing its curling journey and children with backpacks get out of this but. These children are looking for somewhere else using a map. They build up their tent and start playing in the water, but only one child wanders with a soccer ball. And there are other children looking at this scene. They have different color skins! Where do they arrive in this summer vacation?

The writer, Kang Hyun Sun, has shown her personal style with stamp art and collage technique so far, and now she has beautifully described how friends with different skin colors become united after happening to meet together and playing soccer games at the strange place through this book, ‘Summer Vacation’. This book is presented only with images without descriptive writings, so that readers can feel the attractiveness of picture books. The empty faces of children without facial expressions provokes imagination. And the writer attracts readers with red color ranging from but, to a soccer ball, to the sunset, and by doing so, she provides us with such a special summer vacation story.
