Book Information & Summary
Written by Park, Sang-Ryool
Young-Gyoon who just became 20 went through cruelty of the real world. The story shows how an ordinary man's life can be twisted and completely destroyed in the era of barbarity.
Young-Gyoon is an undergraduate school student who works on day and studies at night. He is not a hidden political activist, nor even slightly involved in students' political activism. But, he came to die at the scene of Gwang-joo Democratic Movement in May. His mother, Wolsandack never admitted her son's death even if she completed her son's funeral. Therefore, she wandered everywhere to search for his traces to the point of visiting his working place and school with the hope of meeting her son. But, no matter how hard she tried, she never met her son. She finally went to his grave, bringing his favorite clothes and food, and told him to get out of there. But, Young-Gyoon never came up. Wolsandak, being frustrated, began to dig into his grave, but she only faced rotten smell of her son's body, not her son. Only the half moon quietly watched the meeting of her and her son.
The writer symbolizes a lot of people who were sacrificed by history and chooses a unique technique to present both the story of 'you' and the situation of 'your' mother in rotation.
