Book Information & Summary
Written and Illustrated by Lee, Hyun-young
Joyful and lively kindergarten story of a seven-year-old girl
On the very first day of kindergarten,
all the friends and teachers misunderstand Yoon as a boy.
What should she do?
On the beginning day of kindergarten, a teacher brings the children together to see if everyone is there. While the teacher separates boys from girls to line up, Yoon lines up with other girls. But other kids think of Yoon as a boy because she wears short hair, pushing and pulling her toward boy's line. Even the teacher agrees with that. Yoon feels really bad, and eventually bursts into tears. Yoon becomes concerned looking herself in mirror for the first time in her life, because she wants everyone to see her as a girl, not a boy. At last, she decides to dress herself up deciding to wear her elder sister's twisted hair band. The next day, she goes to kindergarten wearing the twisted hair band and no one ever teases her any more. Finally, Yoon can have a good time with her friends at kindergarten. However, one day, her elder sister takes the twisted hair band away to school. After arriving at the kindergarten, she realizes she did not bring her twisted hair bad. She murmurs anxiously, 'What if my friends begin to tease me again?' But, she does not have to worry, because her friends like Yoon the way she is.
