Book Information & Summary
Written and Illustrated by Cho Hye Ran
As you can see from the title, ‘Yellow’, this book starts with yellow and ends with yellow. The one who leave for yellow is children. In a grey and simple city, a yellow bus comes. Children take this yellow bus, pass the neighborhood filled with yellow flowers, run through the road full of yellow things everywhere, and finally arrive at the yellow field. In the gold-colored rice field, children open their heart toward the wide open nature. They fly away following grasshoppers, and fall down being dizzy. After playing so pleasantly, they jump and roll over in the field filled with yellow crops. As they get more into the play, they turn into yellow, too. Then, a scarecrow comes out. When children first look at the scarecrow, they suddenly become surprised. Their free imagination, unfortunately, are broken by the eyes of other people represented as the scarecrow. Coming back to their reality, they come back home, clean their clothes with yellow dirt, and then, go to bed. Here, the writer adds one more interesting story - the yellow moon makes children’s clothes turn into yellow while kindly looking down children. Through this scene, readers can feel the warm heart and humor of the writer.
